Instructions on how to complete a live scan fingerprint screening

In response to California legislation, and as an additional step to ensure the safety of our youth, it is required that volunteers complete a Live Scan fingerprint background screening. Live Scan fingerprinting is an ink-less electronic scan that runs a criminal history search in the California Department of Justice criminal database.

Live Scan typically costs $25 – $30 and we ask volunteers to cover this one-time expense.  We understand that asking you to cover this cost might present concerns or a financial challenge.

Please understand that we work with over 100 volunteers annually and this is not an expense we can easily absorb. We cannot do the good work Boys & Girls Clubs of Northwest San Diego is known for without YOU, and we need your help to maintain compliance.  

You will need to complete the Live Scan before you can begin volunteering.

Note: Live Scans are not transferrable from another organization, so you need to perform this process for each applicable organization you volunteer with and is a one-time requirement for each organization you remain active with.
