    Jump in and Learn to Swim this Summer!

    Our Summer Swim Lessons offer a safe and exciting environment for kids of all ages and skill levels to build confidence in the water. From beginners to advanced swimmers, our experienced instructors tailor each class to foster growth, refine techniques, and ensure everyone enjoys their time in the pool. Join us this summer for a splash of fun and learn essential swimming skills that will last a lifetime!

    Jump into our Aquatic Center, where young swimmers build strength, confidence, and lifelong skills! Our youth swim programs focus on developing strong swimmers in a safe and supportive environment. Whether your child is just starting out or refining their strokes, our expert instructors guide them every step of the way.

    With two 25-yard regulation pools and a variety of fun, structured activities, your child will not only improve their swimming skills but also gain confidence and resilience both in and out of the water. Dive in and grow with us!

    PoliciesSwim Lessons

    Attendance
    Attendance is required for all lesson days. Please commit to all listed dates before registering. There are no refunds, credits, or make-up classes for missed lessons due to other activities, sports, or vacations.

    Class Changes
    We cannot guarantee class changes if your child is at a different skill level than registered. If space allows, we may offer a class change, but if not, your child may remain in their current class with teacher approval. We can issue a session credit for future use.

    Wait List
    To join the waitlist for full classes, complete the registration process. You won’t be charged or invoiced unless a spot opens up. You’ll be notified about your waitlist status one week before lessons start.

    Ages 2.5-12

    1:1 Private Lessons

    A one-on-one private lesson with our experienced instructors tailored to your child’s swimming needs.

    Ages 3-5

    Sand Dollar

    This beginner class helps children feel comfortable in the water and build confidence. We focus on assisted floating, kicking, and getting faces wet. To advance to Sand Crab, students must submerge comfortably. Multiple sessions may be needed.

    Sand Crab

    This class is for swimmers who enjoy water but need assistance. Students learn floating, gliding, kicking, arm strokes, and rolling over to breathe. The goal is to swim 5 yards and roll over unassisted to advance to Seahorse. Multiple sessions may be needed.

    Ages 3-5

    Sea Horse

    In this class, swimmers will refine front arm pulls, rolling over to breathe, and back floating, gliding, and kicking. The goal is to swim 12.5 yards unassisted. Multiple sessions may be needed.

    Penguin

    This beginner class builds water confidence while introducing freestyle and backstroke basics, including floating, gliding, kicking, arm pulls, and rolling to breathe. The goal is to progress from 12.5 to 25 yards.

    Otter

    Swimmers learn freestyle (side breathing, streamline, balance) and backstroke (kicking, arm pulls) techniques, plus open/flip turns. Initial distance: 25 yards, goal: 50 yards. Course may require multiple sessions.

    Seal

    This class improves freestyle and backstroke endurance/proficiency, introduces butterfly and breaststroke kick, eggbeater treading, and standing dives. Initial distance: 50 yards, goal: 75 yards. Course may require multiple sessions.

    Shark

    This class emphasizes endurance and refines freestyle, backstroke, and butterfly, introduces breaststroke arms/timing, eggbeater treading, and competitive dives. Initial distance: 50 yards, goal: 100 yards.

    Rancho San Dieguito Swim Team

    Ages 5 – 18 years

    Our Rancho San Dieguito Swim team (RSD) is a USA Swimming-affiliated, age-group competitive, year-round program. RSD is a nationally recognized program that serves as a training ground for some of the country’s top swimmers.

    Our Impact

    For the past 15 years, RSD has had over 400 members and sustains a waitlist of over 100 swimmers.

    RSD athletes have earned over $3,500,000 in college scholarships to over 50 different colleges and universities, making us one of the nation’s leading college swimming development programs.

    RSD is a USA Swimming designated Silver Medal Club and ranked as a Top 100 team in the country out of 4,000 teams

    RSD has been nationally recognized by USA Swimming as a Club Excellence program since 2012.

    Blended Lifeguard Certification CoursesOnline & In-Person

    Boys & Girls Club of Northwest San Diego Pardee Aquatic Center offers American Red Cross classes. The Blended Lifeguard Certification course provides entry-level participants with the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize, and respond to aquatic emergencies and to provide care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries, and sudden illnesses until EMS personnel take over.

    Earn Your Certification

    Students that successfully complete this course will obtain an American Red Cross Lifeguarding and First Aid, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and Oxygen Administration Certificate.

    Prerequisite Evaluation Required

    You must schedule a prerequisite in-water skills evaluation as soon as possible before the online content is emailed to you. Email ARC instructor Kevin Sotelo at ksotelo@bgcGreaterTogether.org to schedule your in-water skills evaluation.

    If you do not pass the prerequisite, you will not be able to enroll in the course and will receive a refund of your registration fee.

    If you do pass the prerequisite, you will receive a lifeguard manual and pocket mask. Additionally, the link to access online content will be emailed to you at the end of the evaluation day.

    Prerequisites

    • Participants must meet the minimum age requirement of 15+ years
    • Swim 300 yards continuously (freestyle and breaststroke)
    • Tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs
    • Complete a timed event within 1 minute, 40 seconds.
    • Starting in the water, swim 20 yards. Swim goggles are not allowed. You will need to surface dive to a depth of 7-10 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object. Return to the surface and swim 20 yards on your back to return to the starting point with your hands holding onto the 10-pound object and keeping your face out of the water. Exit the water without using a ladder or steps.

    MUST ATTEND BOTH CLASSES, NO EXCEPTIONS

    To complete the course, you must:
    • Attend the entire course
    • Participate in all skill sessions/drills, activities, and scenarios
    • Demonstrate competency in all required skills and scenarios
    • Pass the final written exams with a minimum grade of 80%
    BEFORE YOU ATTEND THE IN-PERSON CLASS; ENSURE YOU HAVE READ CHAPTERS 1-9 IN YOUR LIFEGUARD MANUAL BEFORE THE FIRST DAY OF THE IN-PERSON CLASS. If the online content is not completed before the first day of the in-person class, you will not be able to attend the in-person class and you will be dropped out of the lifeguard training course.
