Volunteer
Why Volunteer With Us?
Be someone for someone. Your time and talents can make a big difference for our Club Kids! Just one or two hours each week can make a real difference in a young person’s life. As a volunteer, it can make a real difference in your life, too.
Pay it Forward
If you can’t volunteer, consider making a difference in another way. The average cost of a volunteer is $30. Support a college student or military-connected teen by making a donation.
You will get to…
- Become a role model
- Positively impact local youth
- Develop relationships
- Meet new people
- Strengthen our community
- Gain life experiences & skills

(and yours too).
What?
Volunteers are needed to serve as mentors, tutors, coaches, art and computer teachers and more – you tell us your interests and we’ll match you with a Boys & Girls Club near you. Review our list of opportunities below, or contact our Volunteer Coordinator for more information.
When?
Volunteers are asked to make a commitment of one hour, once a week, for at least a three month term.
Don’t have time to volunteer on a regular basis, but still want to give back? Please inquire about our special event volunteer opportunities!
Where?
We have volunteer opportunities at all eight of our Clubhouse locations throughout Carmel Valley, Del Mar, Encinitas, Oceanside and Solana Beach, as well as at our special events located throughout San Diego County.
How?
Volunteers at Boys & Girls Clubs of Northwest San Diego get the training and support needed to be successful. Joining our team is as easy as…
1. Attend Our Volunteer Information Session
These sessions are held at various times throughout the month. You are encouraged to wait until after the session before submitting your application.
During the session, we will tell you about the application process, training requirements, and volunteer opportunities and answer your questions.
2. Apply
Volunteers are asked to fill out an online volunteer application.
You can also print it out and complete it by hand, scan and email it to Pam Curtis, Administrative & Volunteer Coordinator, at pcurtis@bgcGreaterTogether.org or mail/drop off at 533 Lomas Santa Fe Dr., Solana Beach, CA 92075.
3. Safety First
Our children’s safety at the Clubs is our number one priority; therefore, everyone is required to provide references before being approved to volunteer.
Note: CA law requires that all volunteers with direct contact with youth are fingerprinted. The cost is $20-30 and is the volunteer’s responsibility to complete and pay for it. After your application is approved, you will receive more information on how and where to get fingerprinted.
Get Matched!
Once the above steps are completed and approved, our volunteer coordinator will work with you to match you with one of our many volunteer opportunities that suit your skills and interests.
We have opportunities for all types of volunteers…
